How frustrating! I completely sympathise as it took my dealers a week to get my car ready for collection following delivery. The reason? they only decided to order the rear spoiler 3 days AFTER the car came in despite me telling them exactly what I wanted when I placed the order some 14 weeks earlier.

As to the DVLA, I didn't even bother inconveniencing them by asking for my private plate to be put on from new. I just transferred it recently when the retention ran out.

Hopefully they will get their heads out their a**es soon and sort it out for you.

Looking forward to seeing the car soon...

Nicki

I'm sure i'll get it sometime next week. I'll just keep ringing them up everyday to annoy them.

I'll go and pick the thing up rather than them posting it.

I'll definately have it by the next Herts meet.

I forgot to add that the car is having my personal plate put on it, if the car was just being registered on a normal plate then i think the system you talk about would of been used.

My fault for having my own plate really!!
That's what I don't understand. My car was unregistered but the dealer found out that they could do the retained number assignment on the same online system they used for normal registrations. It prints out a letter from DVLA to tell you your car is registered and docs will be with you shortly (3 weeks).

Get the plates made up, stick them on the car and drive it away. That is what I would do (have done in the past)

The car does not need to be registered to be insured and the plate is in your name so the police can trace you if need be.

:sigh:

Website to renew the taxdisc crashed halfway through my renewal and is now "down for essential maintenance" and "all lines are currently busy" for the phone service.

I'm haivng one of those weeks - one of the old-style-dreamer-weeks !!

On the plus side though, Chris's registration papers came through today

So Matt, while you have your old car, want to come and pick something up from mine?
