Anything Car related in this section. If it is not car related, into Off and Muppet, For sale in For Sale and wanted and meets in Meets & Events.

Fairly straightforward that

We don't have millions of subject related sub forums in the UK section, but there are lots within the 'main' s2ki forums https://www.s2ki.com/forums

why waste your money on one of those?

seriously, it was obviously able to close up on the M5 out of slower corners

but didn't seem to have the legs of the M5 on the faster sections

the beemer was wobbling a bit wasn't it?

but then it's a road car being thrashed, and four up

makes interesting viewing as an owner/driver

the roll seemed much more of a problem than roadholding

appeared to stick to the road VERY well

Awesome run, that last biker was a complete tosser. Probably thought he outran her.

That's made me consider an M5 now. It really is a great all rounder.

We're thinking of going on holiday to Munich this year. Considering a drive up to the ring in our hire car.

A guy in a 540i tried to race me at the weekend ("I'll show this young whiper-snapper a thing or two"), but after a perstistantly long run of around 5 miles flat out across country I think he got the message. Didn't stop him sitting revving the tits off his V8 at the lights after I'd shown him who was boss though.

I'd say it was eight/nine tenths of what the S could do, but I was on my game that day and used the extra tenth to great effect.

How much quicker is the M5 than the 540i?

Wasn't over-impressed with Sabine's lines, but then she was driving for thrills rather than for speed.

Also, are you sure that was a 911 GT3 in pursuit. He certainly had no trouble keeping up, but surely you wouldn't get any adults in the rear? Sounded like there were two blokes in the back ...

just a bit.......

M5 figs in brackets:

0-60 MPH 6.16 s (4.8)

0-80 MPH 10.09 s (7.8)

0-100 MPH 16.02 s (11.4) - that's a BIG gap

The faster you go, the worse it gets

You can see why the S would do well in certain situations

But handling-wise you would be in another league to the 540i

Where you might have trouble is in the mid-range, where an auto 540i will have good kickdown urge

I don't know what my overtaking stats are like, but it feels quick

M5 and 540i both very heavy - around 1750kg

Yep Shisky looks like it's a GT3 going from this pic, and running the video on top of it.

The two areas I noticed the biggest difference. I could just throw the S into corners and eat out metres at a time from him, but on the straights I was pretty much keeping even with him so long as I was lightning fast with my gearchanges.

Even comparing the 540i's standing start stats to the S would make the 540 a laughing stock, but compared with the M5 it looks ridiculous. I remember reading the Car review when the M5 came out and remembering that its 0-100 time was about the same as my Fiesta's 0-60.

I really must test drive one. In terms of purchase price it could save me a lot of money, and probably give me as much of the thrills as some of the other cars I've been considering. Would also make a fantastic car to drive to the Nurburgring in, as the prospect of doing so in the S is not something I think I'd enjoy till I got there.
