Default Road captains

Its dark when i get back to the station now.. I'm in the S, the roads are quiet country roads, all single carriageway nsl

About 4 or 5 times lately i've overtaken some 49-50mph dawdler to be treated to their main beam. Today i rose to it and slowed down, we came to some lights, the main beam wentboff quite quickly. Wtf is it with these pricks?

I'm sure it's worse since collapse of the BE.

Everyone these days really thinks they are 'important' and they really have 'a say'.

They are not, and they don't.

Get out and challenge bad behaviour, always smile whilst doing so however to reduce anxiety.

Ask them if they have a problem with the headlamnps.

If not smack them in the ear

Rear fog lights sort this for me

Expect tools to switch fog lights in a few weeks - when there's not a whiff of fog anywhere to be seen.

I was thinking this the other day. Not had it for a while, but...

I get it a lot in the new car, and a bit in the S lately.

Completely clear single carraigeway, no possible enterance / exit for a mile, car in front doing the speed limit... I overtake, not in a "buzzing the tower manner"

Lots of flashing from the other car?!

I'd love to stop and ask wtf they think they are doing. Clearly they think you can't do more than the speed limit, and it's their right to enforce the law, but wtf?!

I like to wave at them out the window.

Losers.

Interestingly, I overtook one such twonk this morning, no reaction - then the Focus that had been behind me overtook the same twonk and tucked in behind me, only for the Focus to be treated to the lights AND the horn.

Either it was originally intended for me and twonk's reactions were as slow as one might expect of someone doing 40mph on a Roman A-road limited at 60mph - or twonk somehow felt I had the right to overtake in the S, but a Focus hadn't.

The other utter twattery that will now start to appear (and had appeared on my 9pm journey home) is one headlamp out or one headlamp on main and the other on dip (badly aligned), which is simply fabulous on the unlit country roads that make up 39 of my 40 mile journey.

We were counting them the other day and amazingly a Police car. I thought they had to check their car over before a shift started?

did the folowing car obstruct the car you originally overtook in any way?

I see plenty of cases where the overtaking vehicle doesn't so much 'tuck in' as barge in

the simple test (in my book) is whether you can make your move without the other driver having to alter their speed or position

I don't see too may cases where that holds true so people will get upset

as for overtaking them on a clear stretch and that attracting criticism - I don't get that either - apart from the conclusions you might draw from the typical age and appearance of the driver and the type of car being overtaken

just be careful no-one films you making a mistake or it could end up on here

This very point was hammered home to me many years ago by my cousin who taught me to drive (at the time he was a Police patrol driver). It's all about consideration for others...

My favourite is when you over take someone and in doing so they see that as being some kind of challenge to their manhood. They then try and keep up and drive up your ar$e I've even had someone re-over take me and then try to slow me back down again. It's idiots like this which cause me to go a different way. Life is far too short to deal with such narrow minded and pathetic people.

Like MB I just wave at people now if they flash me after an overtake.
