Glare CAN confuse the light sensors, but usually fog is "dark". But that's why they have manual override & you'd have to switch the fog lights on manually in any case.

So yes, it is the 50% of drivers who are on the wrong side of the bell(end) curve...

I don't need automatic lights; just an automatic & a few spare clips.

Maybe it's because the rears burn a hole in your retina when you're following in clear conditions ?

I think you are confusing foglights with the sun.
You are right of course.

Then again I was confusing you with someone with a brain.

Was behind as a non-involved observer when an overtake included the person being overtaken put their foot down.

Queue of traffic. 6 cars ahead of me a slow old person. Mondeo in front of me (previous shape) and a brand new 520d (big car, small engine, if you know what I mean) in front of that. Then plenty of room for someone to pull in.

Mondeo, pulls out to overtake, puts his foot down, plenty of space to overtake the BMW. The BMW boots it, cloud of diesel smoke from the back of it. Gap rapidly closes, and the mondeo struggles to pull in the now small gap before the middle lines become double.

Notes:

BMW showed no interest in overtaking what was in front of him (old RR I think)
Tons of space before the double white lines and the corner to make the overtake
Tons of room between the BMW and the RR
BMW driver was in his 60's.

The only thing that MIGHT have provoked the BMW is the mondeo had been a little close behind it. But didn't seem excessively close, I've seen worse.

Very interesting to see it as an observer. Small Penis Syndrome I think.

Hillarious. Just genuinely never been dazzled or found fog lights to be a problem, often times they are darker/yellower than main beam anyway as it cuts through fog better like this. Just gets blown out of proportion as if it really does burn your retinas you may have an eye disorder. I think boots do cheap tests, off you pop

It's the rear's, not the fronts that are the issue.

Much like people who sit at traffic lights with their foot on the brake, instead of taking it out of gear and putting the handbrake on. The mis-use of fogs lights are one of my top pet peeves.

Funniest one I saw was some right loser in a MK2 Ashtray. Dazzling everyone in London with rear fogs.

A few junctions later, said loser had been rear-ended and they were all broked.

OK I was joking earlier when I said you didn't have a brain, but you've excelled yourself again.

Top of the class!

I regularly stick the rear fog lights on in inclement weather; they are a deterrent to those whom would would otherwise be hanging off my rear bumper. I'm quite happy to risk someone being upset at the glare if it assists only slightly in keeping the cretins at a safer distance.
