well it still may well be written off -turns out they havent decided

IF I get it back AND it drives perfect Ill probably use it to go round Europe - Ill have to be 100% happy though. That will age up the fresh paint a little and then Ill sell it on.

This is turning into a joke - the engineer still hasnt been to visit, and there was no positive info ie hes booked in for Friday - in the mean time the hire car bill continues. Its going to be strong letter time soon.

The insurance co will be claiming the hire car cost back from the 3rd party so I doubt they care about the cost.

Good luck.....
I think I would have got an independent 3rd party to handle the claim like the guys at Europa Consultants rather than my insurance co.

Well nearly one month on and.............

Not a lot

An engineer has now visited, sometime early in the week - they promised a decision on Tuesday but didnt come up with it.

I will now either get a letter of offer if its total loss (Im praying for this)

Or, eventually the body shop will call with an update ie they have started to fix it

Im passed caring, I have a good courtesy car so what will be will be - but lets hope its a magic envelope on my mat.

Swiftcover - cheap cr4p (now owned by AXA who my other half tells me from industry experience are the worst in the industry)

Andy, say they do repair it - you clearly get a good repair but is it then recorded as Cat D or anything?

If so, I was never sure what happens as you clearly lose money as it becomes difficult to sell for anything other than peanuts?

Surely it has to be written off by the insurance company to be recorded?

If they decide to repair, then they can't have written it off... ?

if its repaired it wont be a CAT anything, no one will ever know, nor to be fair ever be able to find out other than by looking at it.

As it was, it had clearly been in a crash before I got it - I didnt notice - like an idiot. However, It drove perfect, never skipped a beat and it was only me that spotted it.
