Smashed up the backside
Oh nuts
They have now decide to fix it.
However, I have TOLD them that I want it done at BMW main agents - Scott Hall in Winchester - they have said this is ok and I am within my rights to do this.
Im just hoping their evaluation/report will be more expensive and could push it to a write off?? not sure if that happens or not?

I doubt the costs will inflate significantly - these will all have been taken into account already
As I said to you the other day, my local dealership did a better than factory job on my old M3, and I have seen many 'new' BMWs with very bad orange peel and other defects
I wouldn't be worried - but I would go in and talk to the people that will be fixing it, impressing on them that you are a perfectionist....
The one thing Ill say is - if they fix it and Im really happy with the work then it may be ok. Not long after buying it I was gutted to find evidence of it having some body work repair. Ironically boot slightly out of alignment and spray down the left side. IF they do a good job, all of this could well be put right and it could be actually for the better. A shiny new rear exhaust will look good too!
It was a good bang, however it was very straight on and I suspect it wont affect the way itll drive - so could end up with a very tidy car. Ill probably refurb all wheels and then truly have a stunner - or maybe go for some CSL wheels for extra bling. Additionally means that my planned trip round Europe should still be a goer, and I was looking forward to the M3 roar up the Stelvio pass!

So just to totally contradict myself - the car is now going to be repaired (well I say that - it still hasnt actually been decided it now seems) at the "approved repairer".
Problem is - if I want BMW to do I have to do the following things myself
Get it to BMW ie pay for a truck
Get the estimate
Submit to insurer
If its too expensive - they may offer a cash settlement
Or I then have to pay for a truck to take it back to the "approved repairer"
I will struggle to claim most of this back, not good news.
So its going to Apollo motor co in Totton, Southampton.
I will take my Dad down on completion(used to be a fleet manager and has signed off hundeds of repairs) and let me just say, it wont be signed off until its 100% perfecto - no acceptions, ifs or buts.
In the mean time, Gad, can you put one of your AK47s in the post so I can track the dosey b1tch down and do some damage - my life was stressless(ish), predictable(ish) etc etc before all this happend. Yes, my whiplash is ongoing and painful too.

Why does it have to go to BMW for an estimate? They can send someone to look at it wherever it is now. They will also submit the estimate. which will not inconvenience you in any way.
It is subsequently transported then that bill ends up at the third party's insurers.
Cost of moving a car a short distance on a flatbed are not going to be high.
If BMW get the work, they will probably collect foc anyway.
Don't be pushed around by your insurer.
I'm sending you a telephone number by pm - might be useful.

Do BMW have their own bodyshop or do they sub out the work to a local independent? It may be that the independent is Apollo. It's certainly worth investigating.
My assumption was that they do - as in the case of my local mob
