I would be put off by a car that had been smoked in but equally I get put off by cars that reek of air fresheners (what are they hiding?).

A car should smell of car. If you need air freshener, you or the car (or both) has a problem, in my opinion.

Very interesting, I have never considered the smoking angle like this before.

Strange one this....

I smoke (not alot maybe 5 a day)

I have never smoked in either of our cars or our house. I am not a fan of the smell either. I prefer to stand outside a pub and smoke also rather than sit in my own other peoples smoke.

It makes a car smell vile IMO but hey ho fabreeze is pretty good these days...

I wouldn't be bothered if the car was owned by a smoker as long as the car didn't smell of smoke.

When i was a smoker and had a convertible, i used to smoke in it all the time. But after the roof had been down for a bit the smell would have completly gone. Admittedly this was about 12 years ago and the car was a triumph herald convertible with vinyl seats and ancient carpets so there wasn't much to absorb the smell.

It should be illegal to smoke and drive anyway. The amount of people I see trying to flick the ash out of a 2 inch gap in the window is amazing. They cannot possibly be concentrating on the road. IMHO smoking and driving is the far worse than using a mobile and driving. Then the scroats flick the fag out the window. Youve got an ashtray, FOOKING USE IT!!!!. Makes my blood boil. The other one I see no end of times is that they unwrapp a new packet while driving and throw the cellothane packaging out the window. No excuse for being a scum bag litter bug im afraid. BTW I used to smoke and I still have the odd cigar with a pint.

I kinda guessed you used to! But I do actually agree.

I still do (rollies with a beer), but not in the car. It is distracting, a fire hazard & it shits up the windows no end.

I think the 'Lude was once owned by a smoker - it ocasionally has that wonderful pub fireside smell, yet it is otherwise very clean.

Might be the heated seats, though.

If it was a toss up between that and identical one from a non smoker. I would go with the one from a non smoker..

However on its own, if it smelt in the car then it would be no, if it didn't then I would look more closely for signs of burns etc. Some people smoke with the window open reducing the smell but blowing ash everywhere..
