Don't!

I knew an old pipe-smoking accountant;

He discovered the reason he couldn't see his monitor (I think they were VDUs back then) was the inside of the screen was brown!

I like the smell of a pipe. Not sure if it smells as bad as cigarette smoke when stale though.....

It's a convertible so all you do is drop the roof and put the windows up - makes a nice chimney. The smoke doesn't even touch you or the surfaces of the car when it is being dragged out by the air flow.

The ash gets blown back in to the cabin though.

True, there is a technique to doing it cleanly but it is isn't hard to master.

Ash is also not as pervasive as smoke. Of course with the roof up it is a completely different story and should be well avoided I reckon.

It also doesn't help when the tip gets blown off then comes back into the car.

This is a true story:

A few years back I threw a cigarette out of my car window. It blew back in, went down the back of my t shirt. Upon lifting my back away from the seat, it fell all the way down and then went down the back of my jeans. All the while this was happening it was still lit. I had to bounce up and down in my seat to stub it out with my arse.

Smoking is bad for you.

A little. And a hole in my boxers that suggested I'd had a rather strong curry the previous night.
