Smokers
despite their protestations, smokers cannot ever really undertstand why non-smokers often find the stink so replulsive
no different to my inability to ignore a smelly nappy or other child bodily functions that the parent takes in their stride
I'm surprised the thread has gone on for as long as it has
it's obvious that most non-smokers would be at least wary of buying a car from a smoker
which is neither a good or a bad thing - just reflecting how people feel about the habit generally
wider assumptions like smokers = sloppy and ill disciplined are laughable
just take a look at the armed forces

As a smoker I hated being in smokey atmospheres, I also rarely smoked at work and when the guy opposite came back from the smoking room, he reeked.
I always knew it was a disgusting smell, I don't feel any better or worse about it now, but at least I know people can smell my perfume

Don't agree Pete.

most smokers can't
with Carrie. However, what non-smokers can never appreciate is why smokers continue to smoke either.
(mind you, it's such an insidious habit, not many smokers can either)
As neatly demonstrated by this thread, ignorance of addiction and refusal to acknowledge it respectively, can result in some very heated discussions.
Of course, being ex-smokers, both Carrie and myself are above it all
I actually like the smell of fresh cigerette smoke in the same way that i like the smell of a bonfire.
Its stale smoke that stinks, and the smell that long term smokers seem to exude from every pore.
Its similar to how stale alcohol smells, and the sweet smell of someone that's been drinking the night before is pretty grim too.
