Default Is This Some Sort of Record?

My wife's Civic is nine years old, and being a Honda has been faultless. However it still has the original battery.

Anticipating a cold winter I bought a new battery from Honda (£46), but the bad weather arrived before I could fit it. No problem; it has started first time, every time, during this very cold spell.

In my experience it is most unusual for a bettery to last that long. Can anyone beat that?

I recently changed the battery on my S200, it's first change, and it's nearly 8.

it's exceptional

I can see that the battery in my beemer is original and will be 8 in February

I thought that was pretty good, especially considering the work it has to do

i know battery tech has improved capacity wise, but the reliability seems to be up aswell.

im not sure about mine - bought a replacement from partco 2years ago, and you can certainly tell that the cranking speed isnt what it should be and noticably worse than last winter! i might have to check the electrolyte level - that might be where my problem lies.... or just 'premature' death! it was somewhat on the cheap side for an S2000 battery

My Audi coupe (1996 plate) still had it's original battery when I part exchanged it for the s in Oct 08. Was a very solid car but age was inevitably taking it's toll and was starting to cost me to much to run considering what it was worth. I loved that car... ↲ P.S Exhaust was the original too, stainless steel I think.

Well, I have a two amplifiers running at all times, which must hurt (30 mins with the stereo on was enough to flatten the battery), and the car only gets used 2 or 3 days a week, usually on short-ish trips, which all take their toll. So it did pretty well really.
