Default Sometimes I really hate the quality of roads!

Once again I'm after your eternal wisdom guys,

I was on a road hitting 55, it was dark, national speed limit road etc, and there was a big bump in the road, not a raise, but a drop, as I was driving I noticed far too late to do any decent reaction, so as I went over this drop when I landed there was a scraping noise , is the bottom of the 'S' well protected? I checked the bodywork, all looks fine, I checked those plastic bits infront of the wheels (as I assume they are the lowest points of the car?) and they also seem fine, think I got away with it? The car drove perfectly after that...... Just wish they fixed the damn roads!!!!! Is it worth getting the car raised and checking certain points?

cheers,

Pt.

ps. once again thanks for your support.

these noises often sound a lot worse than they are...my car was in the air on monday having some work done at the dealership, and after all the scraping i've heard all I could see was some underseal missing...It is well protected under there...I wouldn;t worry.

It's happened to me a couple of times. When my exhaust was being swapped I had a good look underneath and all was fine. I wouldn't worry about it; it probably was the aero danglies at the front. It always sounds worse than it is. I had loads of underbody danglies on my SAAB 900 and, because the car was lowered, they were always scraping. Scared the bejesus out of my passengers sometimes

Maybe we should get Ti skid plates fitted on all our dangly bits (as fitted to F1 cars to spectacular effect in the late 80's, early 90's)
