Default Speed Camera Van

Driving up to Glasgow last Thursday in the outside lane doing around 85 I think. Suddenly, I spotted one of those yellow speed camera vans on a bridge overhead. I slowed but think it was too little too late.

However, the side windows on the rear of the van (where the camera pokes out of) were closed and I couldn't see the actual camera.

I always thought that these windows had to be open with the camera showing to enable them to work. Anybody know if that's right?

I only say this as I saw another one further along the M'way facing the other way and this one had it's back windows open with the camera showing when I looked back at it.

Guidelines were windows open 4 years ago when I was last involved with Lasers ... though it actually makes no difference and it is guidelines not law.

They may have got approval ?? You will know in 2 weeks - think positive ... at least the windows were closed - if that helps

Technically, the laser will refract slightly through glass so I wouldn't think it would actually work so well.
Perhaps you may be aiming at the wrong target if not paying attention
But as John says, the ACPO guidelines say don't do it but that wont affect any type approval - it was not mentioned last time I read them either.

The radar will nevertheless work a f@#k sight better than the alarm inside an E92 BMW
