Speeding! Just as I was getting a laser detector

I got a 7 day ban for over a ton on the M6 in 2004. A period of disqualification is far more costly as it haunts you for 5 years and is reflected in your insurance premiums.
I’ve had trouble getting quotes from people like Tesco who won’t touch anyone with a ban and some other company could only record 3 months as the shortest ban.
But for the most part it didn’t cause me any problems at all – any decent broker or company just deals with it.
I’d much rather have 1 week ban that 3 or 6 points – certainly 6.
6 points is a massive kick in the balls.
That mean one more mistake on a speed camera with an instant 3 points and you’re on your last chance before totting up 12 points.
Imagine having 9 points on your licence… it would take the fun out of road driving for me.
I’ll stick with the short bans.
he was in the SWe had gone to Norfolk for a weekend break and didn't realise there would be so many camera vans out!! Will know for future. Considering getting cruise control fitted because the worry of waiting for the result is awful.

I didn't drive more than one or two days in that period
Got away with it and now I'm on null points

It just doesn't want to drive at road legal speeds, or rather it's not enjoyable at road legal speeds as all the energy is at the top end at which point your in serious license breaking territory. Maybe the jdge will go easier if I say i've seen the error of my ways and am swapping the car for something 75% less powerful....
Like an S2000 or Dc5?
For sure acceleration ensures safe overtaking but how pointless having a car that is not capable or happy to be driven at sensible speeds within the limits. The result is increased frustration in being unable to use all that power.
So what happens .... come the first opportunity you floor it and then what? You get booked and look a right berk.
The era of being able to enjoy very fast powerful cars on the UK roads without bellyaching about speed traps and cameras and lost licences and bans and in creased insurance premiums and lost jobs is long long past. Get used to it for it is going to get worse now more and more rural raods are 50mph or less.
Irrespective of what car or even van you drive journey times are near enough the same. Sure I would rather be in the Honda roof down on a sunny day but I'm not going to get to my destination that much quicker than if I was in a white Transit.
For example in the last 10 years I have made regular commutes in bogo basic 1600cc/2000c Fords and Toyotas, a diesel Vectra, the Honda S2000 and shortish shopping trips in the wifes Aygo.
The good old days and gone and all we are left with is a blast round a motor circuit if we're lucky. I pity you who are in your teens twenties or thirties for you never had the good times and for you for the motoring future is bleak. Time to find another interest me thinks.
And when I come to change the Honda for something less powerful I bet with the ever increasing congestion I won't notice if the replacement cannot do 150mph or rush to 60mph in a few seconds.

Drove it back from work very gingerly. It's like a wild animal that's been scalded.

At least the S2000 feels like it's fast. A Carrera 4 I drove didn't, unless I was trying to bend notes on it too. By which time, it was going remarkably quickly.
I also once got an NSX to a quite impressive speed on a B road between two villages. Plod now practices with their ladies' hairdryers there now, which is a tad sobering thought.

I was caught doing 98mph on the A1. Receieved 6 points and £200 fine.

TBH, that's one reason I'd prefer to wring the neck of my gutless wonder, rather than get something seriously fast. I'm not quite as cruel to S2000s as Gary Moore is to guitars, but it's close.

I am starting to contemplate looking at another car - I was thinking DC5 but if I was really on it in that I would still be in license breaking territory slightly later than the M3 but knackered all the same.
However what i'm sure about is it's not worth forking out the monthly finance + the ridiculous insurance premium to waft around in an M3. I simply wouldn't get any enjoyment out of it.
I'm now thinking that the monthly budget might be better spent on something like a Quatrro formagio Maserati. Won't be any cheaper but at least i'd feel as though I was getting some value from wafting about in that Italian leather interior.

OR maybe something like this which is so incredibly sh*t it might make sense

I could NEVER imagine spanking that
..Or maybe I should man up and take the punishment and stop thinking the world is coming to an end.
Maybe the judge will be a v8 fan?
