...stand off
that makes people shut up and behave fairly quickly as a rule - however much they may jump up and down
you don't see too many doctors nicked for anti-social behaviour, noisy dogs, fighting, etc
they are more likely to go for things like boundary disputes where they can indulge their egos without the risk of a conviction if they lose

now I just find land a headache
privacy and shoulder room are important but I'd rather stick pins in my eyes than spend time maintaining a large garden
sort of returning to topic I saw a motorist who should have been summarily shot today (well, a punch in the face would have been about right)
old git in his Skoda was driving deliberately obstructively (as in speed enforcing) for at least 5 miles of the A27
I see this type of driving all the time but I've never seen anyone pulled for it
I feel for the people who have annoying neighbours because we have the same.
Their old garage acted as a boundary between our two houses and they applied to have an extension built. This was all approved with our support and the garage was knocked down.
During the construction work it was agree they wouldnt put a fence up until everything was finished because it would only get in the way of the builders.
During the construction work they covered my brothers car in concrete and didnt see any problem in doing this, we had asked them to cover the car if they thought it was at risk but they were too lazy to do this.
During the clearing of the rubble they allowed the lorry collecting the rubble to use a grab bucket which lifted all the crap from their driveway, over ours and then into the lorry. Of course our driveway was full of cars but they didnt even think to ask us to move them. If a brick had of come out of the bucket your talking alot of damage!.
Anyway thats all done and dusted but 18 months later they havent reinstated the fence to replace the boundary that the garage acted as. My parents ended up getting a builder in and getting the fence done. Once the fence had been fitted he knocked on the door and said "sorry"
He got a dog during the building works which constantly got out of the garden and onto the main road, a very busy main road and the only people who seemed to care were my parents who would catch it and stop it getting run over. When we knocked on their door to let them know their dog was out all you got was an unconcerned "OK".
I think the problem is society in general. A lazy and arrogant attitude where they dont think about how their actions can effect others. The worst thing about it is you can see this trait being passed to their kids. His eldest is 16 and she throws fag ends over the fence onto our wooden decking.
Im only 30 but i see the lack of respect young people have now compared to what i had for my elders, its scary really! I feel sorry for my other half whos a primary school teacher, she has to teach her childen whats wrong and right because the kids parents cant do it because they dont even the differance!

I'd say it's more of a marked division, these days - a lot of kids seem very engaging & quite OK. Helps that we gave the 'good' schools in our enviro.
The rest are dispicable c unts of the lowest order.
I think it was more of a bell curve in the past.
