Default STi PPP

Talk to me about the STi PPP... just test drove one and was still grinning like the Cheshire cat most of the way home...... Am I insane to consider one (ex demo, 9k miles on clock, black) Type UK???

I guess only you can answer that.

If you can afford to run one then why not ?

Well that's the question.

Main questions I suppose are in terms of fuel economy, tyres, brakes etc.

I can only vouch for my old non-sti classic but it cost a lot more than the S2000 to run. Servicing, fuel, pads and tyres needed done/replaced all the bleeding time. You can easily get a scooby into the teens for fuel economy if you are having some fun!

You discount a 3 series BMW on the basis of image but would drive an Impreza....?

I'm not disputing that they're hugely capable cars but in terms of image they're only marginally less chav than a Nova with fartbox exhaust, tinted windows and huge stereo

Capable, but utterly devoid of class.

Have a search for the review I wrote...

I felt the same, most fun I have ever had in a car, I actually had a sore neck after 45mins flatout country road driving

However, the experience was let down by the following:

- Interior is awful
- Everyone I know hated it
- Fuel consumption was appalling
- The tyres were terrible in cold / wet weather

Part of me does regret not getting it as it is different and a car I 'need' to own, but I don't regret getting a 2nd S.

I am sure that I will get a Scooby, it is high up on my shortlist of next car, but it will be the new hatchback version due out next year.

If it is a UK car I would be asking for a big discount. They are struggling to shift them now and depreciation is really bad with the new model not too far away.

I test drove a few Subarus recently to see if my previous love for them could be rekindled given my need for more practical motoring than the S.

I'm talking about the blobeye rather than the bizarre looking model out now...so not the 2.5 litre version.

Whilst the figures and power for the STi PPP are attractive on paper I personally think the WRX PPP is actually the better car on UK roads.

Incidentally I didn't buy another Subaru. They are very capable cars but the rest of the world has caught up with them. Whereas they haven't moved on an iota in terms of interior quality, and the image now is sadly appaling.

How I hanker back to the days of my first Impreza when only IT contracters could afford them, there were no imports and hot hatches made 120 bhp...happy days

However, on reflection, I think everyone should own one once as they are awesome cars so go for it and enjoy

They are different images; repwagon vs chav

Perhaps I'm closer to chav than rep

TBH the huge spoiler puts me off but to get the more stealth mode car you have to have grey
