Your 0-100mph video in your sig shows it can be done
you seem to hit 60/62 in around 6.2 seconds as far as I can tell and that was with a very good clutch dump by the look of it
to get close to most manufacturers figures you have to be very rough with the car.

anyone having a go with a new box s and beating it may simply be coming up against someone who is still running their car in since they are pretty new on the roads.
new box s is a fine car
we all looked/look down our noses slightly at the old ones because a lot of their owners tended to think they were buying a supercar but our lowly honda could generally embarass them.
the new box and box s both look pretty good though imo.
i'd even consider getting a new style used box s in a couple of years

I thought it was a little quicker than 6.2
In Windows Movie Maker (free video editor) I timed from the first camera shake (assuming thats when you dumped the clutch) through to where 59mph is clearly showing (beyond that the numbers aren't clear enough to see exactly when 60 or 62 came up) stopping the frame at 59mph shows 6.19 seconds elapsed.
The best I ever managed in mine without a clutch dump was a 6.3.
i reckon 59 is up at 10.8s and he sets off at 5.0s elapsed which makes his 0-59 about 5.8s dead.... he changes up at about 64...
i would imagine the digi display is slightly slow on updating as you'll see he hits 8 immediately, then 26, 27, 29 and there are frequent big jumps in speed..
it looks to be well under the 6.2s honda quote..
on the boxster front the old S is a very close match for the S2, the new S is quicker.
both are gayer

So how did some of the magazines get 5.6?
By the time I finish updating my car I would expect a 0-60 in less than 5s.

The car first moves in the frame between 5.04 and 5.12 so call that 5.08
59mph is still showing at 11.2 and 61 pops up in the next frame at 11.28 so split the difference at 11.24 thats 6.16 seconds to 60 not allowing for any delay in the speedo....... I think the rev counter isn't as delayed as the speed indicator so that could be a better judge of when 60 comes up.
Still very quick when you consider the speedo lag will reduce the time a bit more!!!!!
People often get mistaken between 0-60 and 0-62. Most manufacturers use the 0-62, but most magazines use 0-60. If the magazine does not fully test the car they show manufacturers figures as default.
IIRC a real 62mph can only be achieved in 3rd gear, so a 0-60 in the S2000 is easily achievable in 2nd in 6 secs or a little under i.e the 5.6 that Autocar managed. A 0-62 requires a gearchange and delays the times slightly. I might be wrong though!

When I had the s2000 I came across a 986s on the motorway and we had a couple of drag races from 65 - 100 and it was equal. I had a drag race with an MY04 from traffic lights in my 987s and got 1.5 to 2 car lenghts by 65 /70. Both trying. On the move I had a a race with an MY02 from 40 to 70 and again got 1.5 to 2 car lenghts on it. In farness the 40 to 70 I think was more a case of me getting on the throttle quicker and I dont think there will be much if anything in it on the move.
Although slightly slower its still pretty amazing for the s2000 when you consider the engine is 6yrs old.
Now round corners the Jap Craps will be left wanting.
