Today i bought ....
Thats 2 alloys done and one of the two was the worst one. Pretty easy going with 600g / 1000g w&d then 2 coats of primer, colour then 3 good coats of gloss.
Will do the other two tomorrow and the 4 metal centres then they can go on the car

Ha - not sure whether it's good paint or just decent quality metal on the wheels ( maybe better prep) but the paint literally rolled on with zero issues. The reason i'm redoing the centres is because the wheels came out too bloody good.
Paint pack was 45 quid and i reckon i'll be about 6 hours (enjoyable) labour in when done.

It's a lockdown gift then eh? My powdercoating dude strips em with acid and the fettling is then usually quite minimal I guess, he did my scruffy rotas for £140 ffs
Having said that some corrosion came through so needs to redo a couple
They do look really good with the light pinging off in that pic

It is a lockdown gift - i have something that wasn't worth much that i've spent a bit on but all the bits i've spent money would resell for at least what i paid. Not sure i'll ever sell it to be honest, it owes me more in time ultimately and given the state of the economy for the next year or few, having a loan free life is one worth keeping. Got the bike, the other car so if it needs fixing i can do it myself without being pressured.
It's a nice place to be.

i think you're enjoying the fettling, which is what it is all about really, minds me of that yank book i never did read "The Case for Working With Your Hands by Matthew Crawford"
restoring the car to your vision is sort of therapy

My working environment at home is nicely controlled. Got an inspection pit and 5.1 / Sub in the garage plus space in the other sheds to paint / dry. I appreciate this is a very different experience for some folk but for me, it's far from unpleasant.
Yes - it is a very ideal/idyllic set-up, I can confirm.
Then again, I've been in lockdown for years, so dunno what all of the fuss is about.
When I d venture out of The Magic Garden, there are admittedly fewer Jizz Monkeys, Slime Whores and Skunk Pussies abound to spoil my perambulation, which is A Good Thing.

I was never that fond of folk in the first place either ... once or twice a month to a pub was enough, it's more than enough now. If you go out after about 7.30pm and before 9pm - the roads are great for zero traffic volume
Thats all four wheels and all 4 centre caps done.
Got badges to stick to the caps and then lacquer over but that can wait. Also neW wheel bolts .... well just because.
Headligjt projectors mod next but need to wait for the bits to arrive from www.retrofitlab.com first
