Having been slightly disappointed by TomTom's use of speed camera POI, has anyone subscribed to TomTom's own speed camera service? if so, does it warn you of speed cameras which are only on your side of the carrirageway and without having to plug in a route?

Just read this.

Probably the reason why there are so many good offers on TT1's at the mo.

What's wrong with the speed cams in tomtom? I've never come across a camera yet that hasn't shown up on the tomtom.

I have - the only DS2 near me didn't appear. I also dont want to be told about speed cameras which are only catching cars travelling in the opposite direction - it seemed that TomTom would make that differentiation only if you have a route plugged in - I would not want to put in a route each time I got in the car.

Im not sure about that, I think you can just have it on a live map view which still alerts to POI's. I'll have to double check that

James, it alerts you, but does not differentiate between speed cameras on your side of the road, and on the other (in my experience anyway). It only does so when you've got a route plugged in.

Yup - that's why I find also.

On a slighty different topic - mine seems to have also started with the clock bug where the clock does does not accumulate time when it is switched off. Thats a bit of a pain, but I understand it is fixed with the latest firmware.

Mine did this and it was a right pain! However it has now fixed itself without having to upgrade the firmware, I will do that this weekend anyway though...
