But the morons are on the increase.
The Clever people are making it easier for stupid people.
So why bother to be clever anymore, when stupid will get you there with less effort.
In an attempt to minimise undertaking, I now drive, on rural roads/dual carridgeways, as much as possible with my main beam on.
This actually works!

I do it too, some people just stick to the outside lane when inside ones are free, it does my head in.

So people say.

To find out how brain dead and ignorant mid lane sitters are I did a test on the M25 a few weeks ago.
There was a Ctiroen Picasso or something in the middle lane driven by a lady and maybe some kids in the back. She wouldn't move over after sitting behind her for a bit, so I overtook and then sat in the middle lane myself. I then slowed down a little so that she would have to overtake. I timed it quite well as traffic was overtaking her so she couldn't go around me. She then started flashing her headlights furiously at me even though she does the same thing every day

I actually find outside lane people generally move out of the way.
The middle lane hoggers don't.
I generally don't hang about and I have noticed something more since I have had the M5 (don't know if it's the car or the change in attitude more generally), there are a small minority of people who will pull out into the outside lane (m/way or d/c) when they see me approaching, and sit on the speed limit.
I am always quite amused by the people whom you overtake (going noticeably faster), and then will pull in the outside lane alongside you at lights if you have been cught by them further doiwn the road. Generally they will end up farther back as several cars undertake them from the lights.

I too will slip past on the inside if the conditions are favourable to do so as it really fraustrating to sit behind someone who could and should pull over and get out of the way
, BUT the big problem is that our friends in the Police will ALWAYS nick the undertaker (no coffin jokes please
) rather than the lane hogger!
The other problem is that on shows like Road Wars clips of undertaking always show the nutter swerving from lane to lane at a ton plus, which kinda gives the "careful" undertaker a really bad press
