What next...
The only single car I'd replace the S with is a Boxster.
Parking anything nice is an issue of mine, and while Ive got better, I'm still like a cat on hot bricks. I just use it to go to nice places where I know there is good safe parking.

By 'eck Gromit. You might end up with the equivalent of a Jupiter.
Rumour is the engine has Toyota DI & has been reworked by Yamaha. It's also in the correct place, unlike the Jowetts.
The car has spaces at the end of the dash for a roll cage(!) and is designed for aftermarket tuning. I really think it is likely to be a great little (big) car.

Mustn't have rained much

That sounds promising ... roll cage ready and Yamaha fettled. Revs to?
The gearchange on Chimera is like stirring coal.
I was shocked.
Lovely noise though.
You could (in stead of replacing it) spent thousands on the S2000.
Stick an Audi or Lexus V8 in it.

What the S2000 offers is raw mechanical driving thrill, relative subtlety and everyday usability and reliability.
So logically the next step up with similar qualities is Porsche or M-sport.
I love the idea of a Lotus, but couldn't live with the shoddy build.
Incidentally, I reckon the new M1 would be perfect. A bit out of my price range tho :-(

The Cayman has cheap strut suspension, so is closer.
The Evora is a bit long & getting the steering wheel straight when the rear steps out is rather heavy, like it's under-assisted. But yes, the general feel is superb & the ride isn't too bad by modern, tractor-wheel standards.
Anyway, the car is being engineered by Subaru & they're probably haven't heard of the Evora...

Or the GM 5.7 family.
BTW; the Tuscan S was a huge improvement of earlier cars - the engine was lovely & the cogbox not bad. The handling (high-speed chassis flex aside) was pretty good all round. Like the Evora, straightening the steering was unnecessarily heavy - must be I'm used to Hondas. Pity it all went tits, really.
The Lexus 1Uz is only 40 to 50 Kg heavier and the Audi is 60 to 70.
That Audi engine is 4.2 litres, all alloy, 12.5:1 CR and 414 NA Bhp, revs to 8k and has direct injection.
If I had to think of a V8 worthy of the S2000 it would be that one.
Strip all the fat off it and slide it in.
I saw a tuned one go on a kit car forum for three grand, nice light gearbox to go with it and there is almost no weight penalty at all.
