Z4, pah.................. I wouldn't been seen dead in one
BMW have been much less defensive with the E86.

A blurring of the divide has appeared for the first time in an M cars history.

Have a word with Subaru 2000 and enlighten him on what he is actually driving.

It is for his own good.

In real world terms the Z4 3litre isn't too difference in performance from the the Z3M and should be cheaper to run.

As mentioned springs can crack, I'm pretty sure BMW replaced these foc on some cars and the lacquer peels off the best looking split rim wheels.

thanks for the advice guys - keep it coming....

i'm not brave enough to take it on a track i dont think, well, not regulalry - maybe once or twice i would.

i just like country lanes with the top down.

it is my day to day car as well, i used my s2000 to run my PC callout business - dont need much room, just me, my brain and a few tools.

I heavily considered a M Roadster before I bought my s2000 too.

I was attracted by the straight six 300+ HP etc etc.

When I dug a bit deeper I just couldn't bring myself to do it.

I couldn't get past the standard Z3 image (too girly IMHO).

The M Coupe though is a different matter - nicknamed 'the breadvan' it is meant to be one of the total peaches of the BMW M ranges - EVER, following the E30 M3.

Apparantly the M Roadster chassis wasn't up to the job of having no roof, but as soon as the Coupe came out, that fixed it and it made a fantastic handling car with sweet power.

Pistonheads will verify the 'breadvan' demands about 2-3k more vs a M Roadster. - Those in the know understand why!

My mate had one of these a few years ago now. Another friend had M Coupe, and i must say the Coupe was much better than the roadster.

However they both are quick, and unless you are gonna be on the ragged edge dont think you will feel the difference in the chassis where they reckon the Roadster is muh weaker with Cabin skuttle or something equally as stupid sounding.

Tiff does love this car as i recall and spent ages powersliding it etc on one of his videos.

Spec, interior and build quality wise i would say it was Superior to the S2000, altho as someone has quite rightly said there are some horrible, no make that horrendous interior colour combinations.

Vanos problems can be an issue, but check with BMW to see if the Vanos has been done under recall, as if memory serves, and i am willing to be stood corrected, it was the bolts that were the weak spot on these units and not the Vanos itself. However if the VANOS does go, as others have said expect to part ways with quite a substantial amount of cash (around the

Interiors can be quite loud, but I liked mine. They're not a cheap car to run. Yes Vanos bolts can be the problem, some have been replaced with longer ones as they can work free and p1ss oil out at a rate of knots. Usually the gears wear hence the grinding noise when the revs fall to idle, apparently these too can be replaced but the norm is a replacement unit which I was quoted
