Hmmm, I'll be living in Person county, which isn't on that list. I was just going to keep my car registered in SC to avoid emissions. So now I don't have too?

I've moved here to NC recently from Florida, where there is no emissions testing.

Couldn't you have 'kept' your licence and vehicle registered in FL to avoid this shenanigan's? I know someone who lived in FL years ago, lived in NC for 4 years and then moved to CA and STILL has his valid DL and cars registered in FL at that old address?!! I am currently looking into getting a fake or real FL address for my current and future cars so I won't have to deal with this ODBII and 'Safety' issue anymore..

Can I get away with getting my car inspected in a county that's not on this list to avoid the ODBII hassle?

Theoretically, yes. But what happens if I am involved in an accident in NC? Insurance is not going to like the fact that I live in NC and have the car registered in FL. Also, If I got pulled over, the cops could give me a big headache, since technically doing so is illegal. You are supposed to have the car registered in NC within 60 days(or something close to that) of living here, or when employment is gained. I've done both. I don't think it's worth the risk.

So it looks like I'm picking the car up on Saturday most likely.

I want to keep the AEM EMS and just have something set up to pass emissions without going through the hassle of converting it back to stock every year. Should I get an AEM FIC installed/tuned or the Emanage and just plug the AEM EMS back in once I pass emissions?

It looks like they only make that for 06 and up. The car is an 04.

The seller does have the stock injectors and other parts to convert it back to stock. I need to find someone in the area who could assist me doing this though. I'm not totally incompetent when it comes to working on a car, but I'd rather have someone there who really knows what they are doing. Beer supplied by me of course ( :

What about a k-pro (as Dustin has already pointed out)? They are OBD2 compatible

Yeah I could go that route, the RSX ECU may cause some issues depending on the emissions tester.

I called the DMV this morning though, since I'm buying the car out of state, I have a year before I have to get it emissions tested. Yay!

Yeah, plus you have to buy a bunch of OEM parts and it's a bitch to get them all installed, but when it's all said and done, you'll have something completely tunable and compliant as well!
