good call on gettng a lawyer. there are a thousand ways to avoid getting points/revocation. Of course, they all boil down to money. Congrats on not having to use your PJC. Keep that "get out of jail free" card as long as you can.

Don't get a PJC unless absolutely necessary. If get another ticket even something like 62 in a 55 zone then that other ticket and the new ticket will hit your insurance.
I would ask around and fine someone who knows the DA well in whatever county it was. Generally if you have a clean driving record, you can get the ticket reduced to improper equipment which is a non-moving violation or at worse have it reduced to a 2 point violation that does not affect your insurance.

I guess you already got it taken care of.
Anyways the general rule is the faster you are going, the more it costs you to get out of the ticket.
I just get pissed when they say "IT's ABOUT SAFETY." Give me a break, it is about MONEY!
