Default Hendrick & Comptech +CAI

I noticed the Comptech ad the other day at Hendrick South and was wondering if anyone here had had any mod work done at the dealer. I've been kicking around the idea of adding a CAI to the car mainly to help the car breathe easier in this heat wave.
I'm just wondering how a dealer installed mod would affect the warranty and is it worth the work or is it something the weekend mechanic can undertake fairly effortlessly?

Also....any local owners with CAI's making the Charlotte meet? I'd really like to get a first hand look before I lay the george's on the table.

I was at Hendrick on Friday speaking with Randy (Service dept.), asking some of the same questions about different mods. As far as the warranty goes, pretty much anything you do to the engine, and certain parts of the exhaust system voids the warranty, even if the dealer does the install. And he even mentioned that for complicated installs you are better off having the mod. manufacturer do the installation or at least make a recommendation on where to have it installed. He said Hendrick does not do very many mods. I didn't ask about the CAI directly so you may want to give him a call to ask details- he seem's fairly knowledgeable.

The way that is has always been stated to me is that your warranty still stands unless the mod is the cause of the problem.

They put on my X-brace, but that's not much of a mod. However, it took just a few minutes and they only charged m $12.00, so it was definitely worth my time.

Hmm, not sure what I did but they installed my Digrappa x-brace for free

Yeah, Chris in the parts dept has been trying to get me to buy a comptech CAI and STB from him. I'm considering it. But I saw some of those posts on the new K&N kit, and I couldn't believe the dyno #s. I'm having a hard time deciding now.

Would you mind if I mention you when I call Hendrick? It sounds like you've got a great connection with this Chris and that would make me much more comfortable in having mod-work done.
Btw, did he give you a price for the Comptech CAI?
Ohh...one more question
Are there any speed shops in town worth their weight? Guess I'd just like to see the actual hardware before laying down the $$$'s

Yeah, that's cool. I've talked to him twice when I've been there and he showed me the catalog, priced out the parts, etc. (sorry, can't remember exactly, but I want to say they were right in line with what I've seen posted before) I just haven't been back to buy them But I did ask about warranty and he said that wouldn't be a problem.

Just tell him I'm the guy with the silver that had the nice brace installed.

I would recommend the injen intake. Sounds and looks GREAT. With the help of UGOTMADE and another friend we had it on in 3 hrs (including our talking and chilling time).
