I don't mean to get on you, but this sounds weird- If you were under 80 and the speed limit is 70 on that stretch of 540, then the officer is probably running game on you! If that's the case, this ticket can easily be dismissed when you remind the judge that it's 70mph in that section

A couple of things, first if you are in Wake County they WILL NOT reduce it to improper equipment. It is pretty much SOP for them to reduce a 15 over first offense to 9 over so pay the fine and not increase your insurance.

Do NOT ask for Prayer for Judgement until you need to. That is code for if you get popped again.

If you do feel like you would like to go with a lawyer www.vanderweertlegal.com many here have used him with good results.

Good luck

when I got a ticket in asheville, I just simply called the DA's office and asked for a reduction to 9 over...you'd be surprised....give it a shot.

I got a ticket for 167 in a 55 once, got it completely dropped with a PFJ. This is why I no longer own a motorcycle.

Is that a typo?! 167?! And I thought my 95 in a 55 was awful when I was 19...

It was on a highway in the middle of nowhere at about 3am. I wanted to see how fast it would go at redline in 6th.

To be honest I didn't even know the guy was back there. I was heading home after work in college and actually parked in the driveway, got off the bike, walked to the door, and as soon as I put the key in the door this cop pulled up, opened his door, drew his weapon, and shouted at me to freeze. He thought I was running from him, so it's understandable.

Lol. At that speed you're running from everything.
