Default Smooth,Very Smooth

I just replaced my tranny fluid. I had been running Amsoil. Ok product but it did nothing to improve shifting.
Since I first bought my S new, I have had notchy shifting from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3d.
This time I put in the new Honda MTF fluid and in addition added a friction modifier. The service manager at the Honda dealer suggested I try the additive.
The shifts now are smooth and clean. I don't know if the improvement is due to the fluid or the additive but I am very pleased with the results.
FYI in case you want to try it, the product is Motorcraft Friction Modifier Additive by Ford. Sells for $5.00 in my area.

I'm a happy shifter now.

My '05 has had some notchiness on the 1-2 before warming up...

I plan on putting in the newer MTF here in a few weeks when I get around to changing other fluids.

I hope it works as well for you as it did for me.

I've been very happy with GMSFM in my transmission, and as smooth as I thought it was before, after flushing my clutch system and putting new DOT3 in, I was surprised the shift action could get any more positive. If you haven't flushed your clutch lines yet, I recommend it.

batguano,

What was your procedure for refilling the transmission? A little extra fluid or right to the fill hole? How much additive?

Good to hear that the Honda MTF is working for you. I've had it in my transmission for approximately 10k miles, and don't see a reason to change it anytime soon.

After draining and putting the drain plug back, I put the additive in before the fluid. Could not get it all from the bottle so I added it to the MTF and got all of it in.
It comes in a small plastic bottle maybe 2 or 3 onces.
