I got bored and just ran down and snipped the red and black wire. Hey presto, roof down on the move.

Top Mod. Although on mine, the terminals are upside down

Another success story! Just took ownership of the car last night and it's the first mod I did to the car this morning!! Guys for the info in doing this. All it took was some snips, some electrical tape and voila!

Cheers again mates!!

[QUOTE=spyhunter,Jul 15 2005, 12:14 AM] Ok guys, I have big news about this thread, because I have done this mod now, and I can tell you that what ruexp67 said about cutting the green/white wire is valid, the BRAKE light in the cluster will still operate normally this way.

When you ground the remaining wire going into the soft top controller, you are telling it that the e-brake is always on, but the rest of the car does not know that when the wire is cut.

To all you guys who are doing this mod and not messing with the parking brake wire...you dont have to remove that panel at all or even touch it. Just look up there find the black and white wire and snip it. Theres no reason to take the chance of messing up your panel if thats all your trying to do.

Thanks man that really helps, im not looking to do any cable splicing etc.
Just want to take off speed limiter, i can click the e-break once, it wont engage the breaks.

Edit:
Ok just did it, at first i wanted to take the cable out but when i tried to open the box of cables it was in...psht no way i can do that, it would frustrate me to open something that small so i just cut the wire.
Now surprisingly the plastic peice came off pretty easily, but i cannot seem to get it back on...

I just did mine on my 06.

I cut the wrong wire green/white by accident. I just wanted the e-brake one-click mod which I had to cut the black/white wire.

The green/white wire were re-wired back on with some black electrical tape and everything still works fine....hopefully =/

I dash board panel was easy to remove, however I did break the two side push pin. =(
