Thinking of relocating.
So my work allows me to work from home but do need to travel/fly though not all that often. Need to stay within a 1/2 hour - 45 min max of an airport. I am thinking of moving to North Carolina. My only exposure was to Wilmington and thought it was great. Though that was years ago like 2000 so I am sure things are way different now.
I like the water but don't need to be right next to it. Probably looking to stay on the 95 1/2 of the state. I wouldn't mind being near a lake. I do like the newer style housing developments but only the ones that give good spacing and land for each house. I don't want to be crammed on top of my neighbor.
I have a 3 year old and might go for a 2nd. So school systems are going to be very important to us. I am not looking to be out in the boonies. I am from Connecticut from a town called Milford. It's a quiet very "white" town that has had the yuppy New Yorkers push up the line into the town. The influx of people and the yuppies has really changed the town a lot.
The current house is at the end of a cul de sac lots of kids on the street, walking distance to a school and is away from "down town" but is a 5 minute drive away. Highways are within easy access too.
Houses are just amazingly highly priced for what you get, taxes are high and we want to maybe avoid the crappy winter weather. I thought about Florida but I do like the seasons! Never lived outside of this home town and now might be a great time to make the move(next year or so but no more than 2)
Let me know if you have any suggestions on areas to look into or specific towns.

I live in Jacksonville and it's near the beaches such as Onslow, Emerald Isle, Atlantic, Topsail. Wilmington is only about an hour away. We have the highways nearby to which are Highway 17 and 24. The Jacksonville Ellis Airport is only about 30 to 40 minutes away depending on traffic. There are new houses being developed and the town is always growing since it is home to Marines and Sailors of Camp Lejeune, Johnson, Geiger and New River Air Station. Good luck to you and your family wherever you guys find a new home
I work in a division of my company that focuses on Federal Contracts with the Govt. so being near to Bases isn't a bad thing! Especially should anything happen with my job as there are a lot of companies that focus on that within that region of the country.
Thanks Ace.
Thanks Ace.
Great to hear from you; we haven't seen you around since the early DragonBall Runs and S2K Days. I still remember that flat bass speaker you had under your driver's seat that would "shake" the entire car. LOL. It's been so long that you now have kids. Wow...how time flies. Good to hear you're doing well. NC is a beautiful state, and being a Charlotte native, I'm particularly partial to this beautiful city. You should check out housing, schools, etc on the south side of Charlotte. It's also great to be just a few hours away from the SC beaches or the mountains (only 4 hours to the DRAGON!).
Large airport, couple of lakes nearby, and some of the smaller communities outside Charlotte (Matthews, Waxhaw, etc.) have that small town "feel" you describe. Maybe you can come out for one of the Dragon events. Take care!
OMG, Pinky!

Again. I still have those shakers and if they ever die I will be heart broken. I don't think they have been produced in years! I am not sure if at that time I had the 12" sub in the trunk but the car really sounds/feels good.As for locations I am not sure if I am looking that far west but being in the same state wouldn't be all bad and less than a 1/2 days drive from the Dragon OMG!!! If I were to look that far west it would be in the burbs of Charlotte as if this job ever doesn't work out I have options near by.
After DragonBall Run and S2K Days I started to settle down a little with the 850 mile non stop driving. That was what 10 years ago now? Yeah been a while. I haven't been back since those days to the Dragon though your damn skippy if I move my ACE will be at the monthly and yearly events! Gotta make new friends and S2000 friends are the best!
