you have 160 across the board on a compression check? You're practically down to 8:1.....

It all depends on the gauge. Most cheap ones don't read right because they never quite seal right and the gauges are %10-15 tolerance.

What *should* a compression gauge show on a healthy F20C or F22C? Somewhere in the 200s, I'm guessing, right? Heck, my old GS-R with something crazy like 50 track weekends on it read in the 220s when I sold it.

ArchAngel, does your car burn any oil?

Replace it with all of THESE parts and you drag times will improve. All for less then the cost of a new Diff.

Yea you can drop those 60 ft times and get to high 13s... until you snap the diff and then however fast you get across the 1/4 will depend on who's towing you.

Get over it, this car is NOT a 1/4 car as built. A highway monster? Can be. Autox/track, fo sho.

I got beat by a new V6 Accord the other day from 1-3rd with the top down and my mods. Do I care? Well, a little, but I am not selling my car for a Mustang/Fbody yet...

160 is VERY low, regardless of the gauge..

mine was in the 260 range, every other highish compression engine i have ever put a compression tester on has been over 220.

put the car on a dyno. 95mph is pretty bad as far as MPH goes. You should be closer to 100mph.

Try a couple of drops of engine oil in each cylinder. If the numbers go up the rings are worn, which is probably the case. Valves would be the next culprit.

CrackerBaller, I think he's just worried about it being so low. I mostly curve my car, but I'm not above launching it so hard at the track it sounds like I've been rear ended. To each his own.

OP: Leak down test the motor if the oil doesn't bump the compression.

Definately should be quicker than that. I can easily do 9.2's at the local 1/8 mile strip. I am usually around 2.0 sec to the 60 ft mark. That is with stock gearing on 19in wheels. You are definately losing time with your launch. The low trap is probably due to the gears. Your having to shift too much. With the slippage of the stock clutch and all the rowing your probably not doing to bad with a high 14/ low 15. As far as the compression the low readings are most likely the gauge or how you are using it. If your compresion was only 160 there is no way you would even get close to a 15 second run. Get a quality gauge or pay a professional to check the car. FYI I checked my 06 with my snap on guage at 50000 miles I got 240's on all the cylinder's. good luck.

damn flame on johnny storm i didnt say i was selling the S nor did i say im trying to make it a drag queen.

Did another compression test today on a new guage and it showed 220 on all 4.
checked my plugs and they had a gap of .056 so i fixed that to a .040.
noticed my AC clutch was engaged and the AC was turned off.
disabled the AC and the clutch released.

i need to test it on a dry road (been raining all weekend if you havent noticed)
or the strip

Sorry I wasn't flaming, but if the car is in good shape (and 220 across all 4 is a sign it is) then you just need some driver mod. So don't be disappointed in the S, just practice (we talkin bout practice?).
