Default warranty work after an accident

Hey, I posted this in the main section but thought I would post it here as well.

Hello all,

I'm hoping yall can help me out with a question. I am the second owner of my s2k, and when I bought it I was aware that it had been in an accident before. Well the trunk started to leak so I took it in for service and the service lady told me that she would "try" to get Honda to cover it under warranty, but she didn't know if they would since it had been in an accident. Is this how they would normally go about this or are they just trying to screw me? My other concern is that the dealership are the ones who did the bodywork when it was wrecked so either way shouldn't they fix it if its leaking due to not being put back together correctly? Any advise would appreciated today before I get a call from her later on.

Thanks,

Josh

Just an update on my situation. I took in the S to get it fixed. When I went to pick it up they didn't even mention anything about it being in an accident or anything and it was covered under warranty. I guess I got upset too quickly. The service department there is really nice, and they even washed my car for me for free which I thought was cool. I took it to the new Breakaway Honda on Woodruff Rd. in Greenville if anyone is looking for a good service department.

You are lucky to have such an understanding dealer. It is a common policy around here that when a car is involved in any serious accident, the warranty is immediately voided pending a complete mechanical inspection but usually, the manufacturer won't bother. It's simply easier to reject all such vehicles. It's hard to tell if the accident may have caused damage to things that are not readily visible.
