Default XM problems...

Okay, so I posted this up in the electronics forum but no-one replied. So I'm trying my luck here. So today I got an XM radio. The only problem is that I don't like the HUGE DC plug-in to the power outlet. And PLUS my power outlet isn't working... I looked at the fuse. It looks fine. I'm going to buy another fuse tomorrow just to see if it will work that way. I did, however, manage to find a bunch of change under there though. But anyways... If any of you guys know how to fix this or even know how to get the 12 volts of power to the XM without the DC that would awesome.

did you actually CHANGE the fuse? Just because it 'looks' ok doesnt mean it 'IS' ok.

I dont blame you for not wanting to use the OEM cig lighter plug. Its not in the best location....

Anyways, go to Circuit City and buy a Reverse Cig Lighter plug. It will allow you to plug in your XM power supply and then wire it directly to the fuse box or another 12v Source under the dash. I will be doing this to hardwire my cig lighter plug for my GPS. Also, FYI. The XM unit actually runs off 5 or 6volts. So dont cut off the plug and wire it directly to 12v. That would be bad lol.

I think the problem with your socket is a common one. Mine got loose . I took it to the dealer who fixed it but it got loose again.
I finally hard wired a splitter and put it in the mesh pocket on the passengers side. That way I can plug in my XM and my Nav.

I don't know if there is a hardwire kit for the XM, but there is a spare ACC. on spare connector under the driver's side fuse box. (There are actually 3 slots under the dash--one is always on, one is acc. on, one is when the hight beam is on). Put the positive wire to the male spade connector, then run the black wire to ground. the ground is under the driver's side also.

hope this helps.

I would just wire it in with the Radio Acc, and power wires, thats what I did and it works perfectly
