Default No Power to Radio

Last week I noticed the lights on my head unit flicker every so often. I figured I had a bad power connection, the guy that did the install on the Alpine was a little sloppy. After an autocross run last Sunday, I lost all power to the unit. Planned on redoing the connections, didn't think much of it.

Got into it tonight and it appears to be a bigger problem. There's no power to the hotwire on the factory plug - white wire / red stripe. Fuse is fine and there is power at the fuse. Seems the connection is broken somewhere between the fuse block and the harness plug.

I can use a relay to work around this issue for the stereo, but I'm concerned another harness plug maybe working loose somewhere else that could create bigger problems. I did a quick search but didn't see any similar problems - but its difficult to find things on the site sometimes. The stereo wire harness from the plug goes straight up and disappears into dash, so I can't follow it.

Is this a one off problem or a more common issue with a solution?

Thanks

There are two fuses for the headunit - #9 and #22 in an AP1, not sure if the same
in an AP2. Also the white/red is switched with the ignition, so make sure the key
is turned when checking for power.
Does the accessory power outlet (rear console) work?

That was the problem!!! Thanks, I never would have checked that fuse or tied it to the radio. You saved me a couple hours.

Glad to help! It's documented in the factory repair manual, but apparently not
too well elsewhere.
