I hear you Pengy. However, it's a rare business that can survive cash-only. I've seen a few, like local pizza places and even a big retail store (called "Spags"), but it's rare.

I assume even the online businesses are paying the CC companies even if they're not paying tax. Does that sound reasonable? I think not.
Explain Chas...what do you mean they arent paying taxes?

He's referring to sales tax inter-state transactions, I think. Merchants are only obligated to collect and pay the sales tax for customers in states the merchant operates in. So if you had an e-store, you would only collect and pay sales tax for PA customers. Customers from the other 49.5 states are supposed to pay the sales tax on their own.

So again the burden should fall on the merchant and collect 52 different tax rates

We already are a tax collector for the feds, state, City of Phialdelpia, and local governments please no more tax procedures!

Apparently I'm not paying any attention to this thread as long as there is adult talk about government issues such as taxes.

Apparently, it is time for a flat national sales tax. 10-15% (plus any local govt sales tax)-and get rid of the federal taxes we pay.

As an employer, it's a bitch trying to keep up with all the taxes, insurance etc we have to pay on a weekly or monthly or quarterly basis.

That's why the burden is on the consumer to pay the sales tax. Of course, most don't.
