it may take a bit of work, but i guarantee you a B-series will fit. you'll have to use the b-series gearbox though.

a z-series motor would suffice though.

that might defeat the purpose of me getting a beater tho.. ehhe.. i wasn't supposed to really "build" it... I just wanted a G-ride to get from point A to point B.. which is why I wasn't looking at the CRX

but I don't want to end up on the side of the highway either, which is why I'm looking for an inexpensive motor swap... i could care less about rwhp

If you don't want a pimp ride, but you want to get to Point B, get the CRX and put the ZC motor in it. A B16/B18 will fit, but the $$$ adds up. A ZC motor can be had for around $700-$900.
