The school and their lawyers want to ban anything "inconsistent with the school's basic educational mission." This would be a contrary exception to the Tinker decison (the black armband kids in the 60's).
The best thing is that Alito said this is "a very disturbing argument" because schools "can define their educational mission so broadly that they can suppress all sorts of political speech and speech expressing fundamental values of the students."
