Great choice.

I don't know what to look for next. I love having a soft top now so much that I don't know if I could go back.

I'm still keen on the Aston Martin though.

Seriously, I was looking at Aston's in the UK ..... I have been looking at buying a car to keep there ....... and the cheapest I could find was about 14 years old and still going for 45,000 sterling !!!!!!

It is amazing how they hold their value !!!!

Great cars though.

I've always loved the Lotus' but the reliability issue kept me away from the elise. The resale here is terrible for any Lotus too.

I would love to be able to go for an Esprit or something like that, but as you say, keeping them on the road is a nightmare .... though the purchase price second hand isn't too bad

The other one that I am considering is a TVR, though again, reliability wise they suck !

My thinking is that everytime I go back to the UK I hire a car, so why not buy something sporty, keep it there, and have a nice flash motor to drive while I am there, rather than a Ford Focus or something like that

I've never heard much about the reliablility of the V8 Esprit. From talking to Lotus enthusiasts the drivetrain in the Esprit was the weak point.

Have you heard any stories about the V8's?

I am pretty sure that there have been some horror stories regarding the electrics ...... though the UK seems to really suffer the most with this because of the generally damp climate there !

I remember the first time I saw the Elise at an Auction. It was parked in the yard and we had light rain most of the morning. A quick look inside and I saw three puddles.

We have a company in Australia that makes replica's of the GT-40. I would love to get a hold of one of these one day.
