I think a lot of people were fine with the summer being what it was, doing outdoor gatherings with a small group to minimize risks, etc. But yeah, I don't think the northerners who are stuck inside for the next 6 months are going to fare well. Winter is already depressing as hell for many people and now they can't (or, at least, shouldn't) even go to the bar and vent with some friends.

The house that we used to rent was not right around the corner from there. We were able to get there via the back roads so we could avoid the highway.

We had 3 (not a typo) days without rain this summer so I think some people are already heading into autumn frustrated/down. I’m going to have to work extra hard this winter to pry myself off the couch and get outside that’s for sure.

There are a lot of things happening due to the increase of population that you wouldn't think of such as recycling. I've been driving around with a milk crate full of cans and bottles for the last two days and have gone to 4 different recycling centers in a 50 mile radius and they are all full.
A big issue is going to be accidents this winter. We have already seen a very large increase in fatalaties due to accidents but I imagine once the winter weather hits it is going to get worse. I had a suv come at me head on the other day they had swerved into my lane to avoid a squirell.

It’s wild all the ripple effects eh? I’ve realized being in the North is SO different than other communities but there are still interesting impacts. We’ve seen a lot of (what I would call) fear from indigenous communities and it’s reflected in their actions. Completely understandable (heyyyyyyyy small pox) and at the same time it seems they aren’t fully considering current medical evidence (again understandable - heyyyyyy Indian Hospitals). The island I used to live on has a very high indigenous population and is quite isolated. Yet they’ve allowed very few off-islanders in (basically you need a work permit and/or are an essential worker). My friend who has lived there 7+ years was fearful of being harassed by the line of people at the ferry terminal basically doing their own investigating into whether people should be there. Trauma does intense things!!

I think people are just going nuts. I was sitting at a 4 way intersection today and when my turn came to go left this guy came right through the intersection from my right never even thought about stopping and I could see as he drove by me he was talking to himself he never even looked and then he turned onto a side street without even slowing down.

Yikes, I think I'd avoid driving anywhere for a few days.

I don't remember the address because i was never part of the actual rental process but it was about half way or so between Stratton and Bromley a bit closer to Stratton.
