The reason you have to take all those laxatives and purgatives before a colonoscopy is to prevent embarrA$$ing " accidents " during the procedure.

I don't know if "embarrassment" is the right term for it but I know that you take the laxatives to purge your colon of poop so I guess the best answer is "fact".
