Default Internet Explorer Question

's... question.

My friend called and I don't know how to help him.

When he opens internet explorer and goes to yahoo.com, hotmail.com, even to try to do an internet update, it reroutes him to a blank page. he CAN, however, open honda-tech, s2ki, etc..
he cleared out the cookies, files, ran spybot, etc.. but still has this problem.
anyone know a solution?
mikey...i know i know.. buy a mac.. i told him that one already.
running netscape, other software is another option as well.

thanks!!!

Is it possible that those sites were somehow added to his restricted sites?

Mozilla Firefox

that's what i'm running right now actually.
how would he be able to see if they were on a restricted list?
i'd go and see the computer to myself, but he lives 2.5 hours away and i'm a good friend, but not THAT good...
well, he's like a brother to me.. maybe i'll just go down and see it..

on a related note, what do these spammers (I don't mean f*ckers, I mean spammers) think? Do they think if they take over someone browser and redirect it to a website, the user suddenly will have warm and fuzzy feelings and buy from that website???
if anything, I'll boycott anyone assoc with that website..
