Sounds like he has acquired some software that reroutes his browser. There was a big one about a year ago going around that would hijack your google to something else.

I'd suggest a search on that sort of word combo. Fixes are hard manually but soft fixes come out almost as fast at the hijack sw... they're just not always easy to find.

Run spamware/botware/virus check.....reinstall Winblows..... reformat 4 times waste a half a day fixing something that shouldn't be broken in the first place...I will be here ing from my MAC if you need more help!

So Mocky, when you say "blank page" do you mean a page that's all white? Or Internet Explorer's default error page?

Does he connect directly to the Internet (i.e., is his computer plugged directly into the modem/DSL modem/cable modem) or through a router (wireless or wired)?

Also, which version of Windows is he using?

ie 6.0 cable modem directly to his computer and he gets the ie default error page.

he installed firefox and he hasn't had any problems... just wondering why his IE acted that way...

I'm sticking with infection by a hijack program specific to IE.
