Oh, I didn't know that. I thought they'd make it rely heavily on proprietary Microsoft browser technology, thus rendering them useless on Firefox...

(oh wait, do you download them without going through a browser at all?)

i'm on a mac and have no problems on internet explorer.

which is by the way very deeply hidden. i've used it once because harvard didn't let me request apps from them with firefox or safari

Have him trying to ping hotmail.com and see what repsonse he gets. Also run a tracert to those email addresses and see where it times out.
Open a command prompt and type tracert hotmail.com

Let me know if you have any problems.

It is possible though that the lines of his ISP are down to those sites.

Dont flame - it has happend here at work where we cant reach a site but the site can be reached by someone 2 blocks away.
