In MEMORY ..... :(
Joe, I think when I made this thread I really didn't have only famous people in mind but regardless your Sister is certainly worthy of your post
VERY sorry to hear and read this
I love your choice of wording
Also your comment to The King regarding the attempt to change the memorial traditions in YOUR young family, you know THIS Italian gets it
I dunno if its also a religion thing but I have so many memories of Aunts & Uncles's services where I would of rather not had to view them etc.... to say goodbye. Just a tuff thing for a child IMO
Love to all your family

I am going to spend some time telling my family that this will not be a pity party, we need to focus on my sister's life and not her death. Stubborn old Italians just don't get the concept. I know Mom and Rob understand what I've described. Thank you all !
Thanks Mom, that is good to know how this thread covers everyone. I am the executor of the will so lots of duties for me and this is the first time for me doing it. The wording of the obituary and memorial cards is very important to me, so grateful to the fantastic suggestions people have given me. Ms. Perky had a great poem I need to use on the memorial card, and King's suggested wording is in the obituary. I think of it as fate, I am looking for that special wording and I come to this site and find it. Things happen for a reason !

Well no doubt you will do fine!
Not an easy task I know as C-6 was handling his younger Brothers and with no Trust there became issues took about 3 years to finalize it all . Learning lesson as we definitely have one now to avoid our kids having to go thru hoops when that day comes.
Hang in there
1 of the songs I used @ my Dad's service Joe
… How do I say goodbye to what we had?
The good times that made us laugh
Outweigh the bad
… I thought we'd get to see forever
But forever's gone away
It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday
… I don't know where this road
Is going to lead
All I know is where we've been
And what we've been through
… And if we get to see tomorrow
I hope it's worth all the wait
It's hard to say goodbye to yesterday
… And I'll take with me the memories
To be my sunshine after the rain
It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday
… And I'll take with me the memories
To be my sunshine after the rain
It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday
sometimes its hard to find music that fits what you feel but there are some out there and maybe you recall her faves to add one or two?

My Sis chose this one for my Moms Service
… Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
It must have been cold there in my shadow
To never have sunlight on your face
You were content to let me shine, that's your way
You always walked a step behind
… So I was the one with all the glory
While you were the one with all the strength
A beautiful face without a name for so long
A beautiful smile to hide the pain
… Did you ever know that you're my hero
And everything I would like to be?
I can fly higher than an eagle
For you are the wind beneath my wings
… It might have appeared to go unnoticed
But I've got it all here in my heart
I want you to know I know the truth, of course I know it
I would be nothing without you
… Did you ever know that you're my hero?
You're everything I wish I could be
I could fly higher than an eagle
For you are the wind beneath my wings
… Did I ever tell you you're my hero?
You're everything, everything I wish I could be
Oh, and I, I could fly higher than an eagle
For you are the wind beneath my wings
'Cause you are the wind beneath my wings
… Oh, the wind beneath my wings
You, you, you, you are the wind beneath my wings
Fly, fly, fly away, you let me fly so high
Oh, you, you, you, the wind beneath my wings
Oh, you, you, you, the wind beneath my wings
… Fly, fly, fly high against the sky
So high I almost touch the sky
Thank you, thank you
Thank God for you, the wind beneath my wings
I have a wooden Folk Art carved Angel that when you wind the stand her wings go up & down as this one plays

I know this thread has been earmarked for the listing of famous people. Well my sister certainly isn't someone who would be considered remotely famous, though she certainly managed to gain a ton of friends over her 61 years of life. Many more friends than I would have in several lifetimes, that is for sure. She probably knew a thousand people on a personal level, and I can't think of anyone who could have a bad word to say about her. She raised a son as a widower, as her husband died tragically when their son was only 3 months old. I consider that as a superwoman trait. She passed away unexpectedly on October 15th, 2022, oddly enough on the exact same date as her namesake grandmother -who she adored. Sadly missed already, RIP - Concetta Mazzotta
RIP
Thanks for the added support guys, and Mom those song suggestions are amazing. You don't often thing about the meaning of songs until you read the words and you have an event that really brings things to light. Thank you so much we appreciate every kind word.
