S2000 in the INdy 500. Hypothetical
Ok so the diff is good...Your still going to die in the pits, removing 5 lugs per wheel...and how long is it going to take us to get 13.5 gallons of fuel in the tank with the stock filler....
IMS is too short for the S2K to ever bump red in sixth...not a blinding gear, acceleration wise...if we go with billy's redline in fifth out of the corners....

I don't disagree with any of that. I think it's been covered. The 5 lugs per wheel is an issue compared to a race setup but still, if you only have to change once it's about a minute....once...
The speed is also agreed on.

I'm just pickin' at our "hypothetical" here...
the pits can make or break you...I was trying to dig up images of 57-61 indy cars we could compete with...not alot out here...
It took me 4 and a half minutes to fill up today at a "stock" gas station.....

I've given considerable thought to this and I can't come to a conclusion.
I think you've hit on the biggest issue and I don't know how to address. I can't (yet) find how long they were taking to fuel in the 50s and 60's.
It was nearly 20 seconds in the mid 70's to the 80's. Down to 11 or 12 in the late 90's.
I can't in good conscience modify the gas intake but I have considered allowing higher flow rate that we would normally find at a gas station.
What do you think?

Tough call, John. It's simply an apples - to - oranges comparison in that area. You should probably just subtract out pit time entirely and leave things like wheel changes and fuel changes out of the equation. I mean, obviously, anyone seriously running at Indy would have the right gear for these things.
