The Semi-Official Hockey Thread...
LUV2REV... it would be great if the leafs could be built into a viable team now... doubtful they can though with the cap pushing their buying ability down. Now they'll have to do it with brains. Don't know there are enough.

Many teams will be in the same bout as the Leafs. Detroit, St.Louis, Colorado, Dallas will really have to liquidate their assets too. I think Detroit could look ugly this year, they do have some great young player's but stand to lose a fair number of key veterans. It will be an interesting season and I like that there will be no disparity (which has been the norm for years now) and everyone is on the same page in terms of player spending.

As for disparity, it'll still be there. The Blackhawks, Panthers, Penguins and other teams will still be spending a fraction of what the abovementioned teams are. The differnce is that the fraction will be 2/3 instead of 1/3.
So hey, for the past couple of months, all we've talked about is the new CBA. Before that, we shot the shit about the Juniors. I don't feel like scrolling through 77 pages of posts (1925+ posts), so I don't know if this has been discusse yet.
Every year, after watching a few months of hockey, it becomes apparent which teams are fun to cheer for, and which teams you don't even want to bother rooting for. But at heart, everyone has a favorite team (whether it's the home team now or when you were a kid, or just a team you've rooted for for years). So what's the deal... Who is everyone's favorite team(s)?
Me:
Vancouver Canucks

This thread was actually started after side discussions kept popping up, mostly between Mikey (Flyers), Jed (Leafs), and myself (Devils and Avs). You'll also find Lesley (Leafs), Gina (bandwagoner for the Lightning/Martin St Louis), and a few others.
Yep... born and raised in a Leafs jersey. Used to go over to the park in the winter and play on natural ice (in Toronto). We'd form teams that were usually: guys in home leafs jerseys vs guys in away leafs jerseys. Every once in a while a guy would show up with a Habs jersey. It didn't matter which team we put him on, everyone would take shots at him.
