I'm being told it's going to cost $200 to have the dash controls made functional after I replace the head unit in the S.

I'm thinking that sounds about right. The control unit is about $100 and it takes an hour or two to wire up.

I'm asking if this is for the S?

Modifry sells a unit that's pretty simple to wire up. DIY forever

I'm noting this is for the S and my is because I already have to replace the head unit as it's killing the battery. Not doing it myself, because, well, I'm pretty sure I'll it up.

I'm pretty sure anyone doing it is just buying the module that modifry uses and wiring it themself... thus the $200.

I'm wondering what you mean. Is the HU right now OEM or aftermarket? The only reason an OEM head unit would kill the battery is if the battery itself is on its last legs.

If it's an aftermarket HU, the issue isn't probably the head unit itself but rather someone wired it up wrong and has the accessory or constant wired such that it keeps drawing power even after the car is off. That's just my first guess though without seeing anything.

Get the wiring guy to check that first as opposed to spending money on a new head unit right away
