2 minutes later I hear another message but this time it’s a little girls voice and I’m like WTF. So I go up there and it turns out to be one of my favorite customers and her daughter. Daughter runs up to me and gives me a huge hug in front of all the staff.
I totally loved it and the staff was like - WTF Dave - how do you get customers to do that stuff?
I said it just comes naturally.

I'm loving that story Dave. I spend a large part of my day talking to people about how bad customer service has gotten these days, it is at an all time low IMO. Good to hear people like you still exist, not many of us left out there.

Zero - I’ve been in retail since 87 and I understand people. I’d have customers call me and say it’s my 22nd anniversary and I want to send flowers to my wife and I’m like no - it’s your 24th anniversary and it’s tomorrow. They would laugh and say ‘Dave how do you remember this stuff ‘ and I would always say that is my job.




This little girl made my day - we aren’t supposed to let customers use the intercom system but she convinced the front office staff

That is awesome Dave, I wish I lived near you and could be a customer where you are located.

I've been doing what I do for the past 28 years, many people in my field take the easy way out of doing things these days. I've always enjoyed helping people and giving the best service I could. I had a prominent lawyer call me a few weeks back, she proceeded to tell me that I am the only manager in my City that takes phone calls, I cracked up laughing as that sounded so foreign to me, that people can avoid taking phone calls. She was also amazed that I was taking her call on a Friday, as most managers can't be found on a Friday afternoon, yet it tends to be my busiest day of the week and I never finish before 5pm on a Friday. I blame my father for creating a workaholic, much like he was. It is a different world than when I first started.
