Tarts and Mina's Korean lessons thread
And on top of that... if you think about how many different Korean dialects there are and how differently they are spoken in all the different areas... splitting hairs between "i" and "ee" is dumb.

ㅕ= "yuh"
ㅑ= "yah"
ㅐ= "eh"
ㅔ= "eh"
ㅗ= "o"
ㅓ= "uh"
ㅏ= "ah"
ㅣ= "ee"
ㅜ = "ooh"
ㅠ = "you"
ㅡ = it's a short e/o, almost silent. when you say "blessed", it's like the sound that's made after the B and before the L, if you were to say it slow. no true English equivalent.
It's almost like the apostrophe in the last name D'Amico

Is it "see-oh", is it "suh-oh", is it "so"? Nobody knows until you tell them how it's supposed to be pronounced.
Chinese last names. "Hsu" isn't "soo" or "h'soo" - it's "shoo". Why not just spell it "Shoo" or "Shoe."

I don't think Hsu is pronounced Shoo in general... AFAIK, it's pronounced Hsu...
So is it more like "h'soo"?
