I'm like wtf are you talking about, it's just "yuh"

and instead of just writing "yuh" people write "yeo"

which then people who are learning say "yo" or "ee-yo" or "why-ee-o" and I'm like

hard to confuse it when you write "yuh"

I don't like "i" because it's ambiguous how to pronounce it. No one mispronounces "ee" but they mispronounce "i"
mina understood right away once it was explained.

Bah. The point is, the "official" way Korean is spelled through English is complete and utter rubbish. It sounds nothing like how it's spelled - you have to have long-ass explanations to people who are not familiar with it each and every time.

It's much like how "Krzyzewski" is pronounced "shuh-sheff-ski". I don't really care how it's officially spelled, the official spelling for his last name is rubbish.

Take the Korean last name "Seo." Why spell it like that when it's easy to pronounce in English by simply writing "Suh"?

Is it "see-oh", is it "suh-oh", is it "so"? Nobody knows until you tell them how it's supposed to be pronounced.

Chinese last names. "Hsu" isn't "soo" or "h'soo" - it's "shoo". Why not just spell it "Shoo" or "Shoe."
