John-

They replaced the clutch. They talked me out of fixing the 1st-2nd grind (damnit), and it doesn't slip out of gear in 4th. Since my lease comes up in December, maybe the 03 is the answer.

Or I could say the hell with it and get a puke green Geo Metro.

Mark-

Getting good karma going for me would probably be stumbling upon a massive plume of subsurface contamination -- heh, heh.

alert:

FYI, you guys should poke around the under hood and talk fora. There are some guys trying different tranny oil (including some GM synchro oil) and having good results with the 2nd gear grind. Luke, you're not alone in having the problem re-appear. Did you have the gear grind TSB55 done on your car? Folks are saying even that didn't prevent the problem from recurring.

(sorry for oinking )

Yes, I've already had the work done once. My car is going into the shop Tuesday for a few things. I'll list them for you guys:

1. 2nd gear grind (AGAIN!)
2. Faulty auto down in the drivers window (AGAIN!)
3. New seal around my windshield where roof latches (Seal is ok, but adhesive isn't holding.)
4. Roof latches rattle (being replaced with upgraded part)
5. Cold starts my car doesn't want to idle well. (This is since they did the last 2nd gear grind TSB. Not happy!)

Thanks for the info about the tranny fluid. I'll have to do a bit of reasearch on it.

Which two are those? I don't remember and I'm too lazy to look them up.
