Actually, USPS does very well in my town. I've been very happy with normal, 1st class mail around here. Rarely does anything get lost, and things are quick.

Probably the only reason that's true is because of competition with UPS/FedEx.

You're right, they are pretty good in general. My problem is with the city postal workers in Chicago. These guys have a major attitude problem.

I wonder how long home delivery will continue to be a reality (at least in the suburbs). I contend it's incredibly inefficient and very labor-intensive. Well more than half my snail mail is junk anyway...

My mailbox is about 200 ft down the road... not far. So I pick up the mail and as I walk down the street I sort. By the time I get to my garage I put about 2/3 (seriously and maybe 3/4) into the recycle. Such a WASTE.

Offends me with the waste. Of both the resources and my time.

The USPS should cut down home delivery to just one day a week. Always one day before they pick up the trash.
